Office of Broadband

Enabling Harris County to connect, work and innovate by increasing access to affordable and resilient broadband service.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to access internet. Therefore, it is the Office of Broadband’s mission to execute equitable and resilient broadband availability through the engagement of stakeholders, community partners, and residents. The Office was launched in November 2020 after Harris County Commissioners Court determined a greater need for more public internet, particularly to communities where both home internet and public internet were not readily available.

To service students and their families with unmet internet needs, the Office of Broadband provided:

17K+ Hotspots
Servicing students with internet access beyond the classroom
100+ Wi-Fi Locations
Providing free public internet connectivity to residents in underserved areas
19+ LTE Sites
Increasing internet availability for economically disadvantage families
